the pursuit of joy...because happiness is overrated.
So the last few days have been spent substitute teaching in Metro Nashville Public Schools. I have been at three different schools this week, and today has been the easiest for sure. I am at Nashville School of the Arts. I am surrounded by indie hipster kids who listen to good music and don’t want to kill me. I am listening to Radiohead, Neulore, and Adam Agin on shuffle and the kids haven’t said one word against it about or that they would rather listen to Young Jeezy, lil Wayne or Chris Brown, although most of the kids don’t like him right now for pounding his girl in the head…gee I wonder where they get it from.
So I am actually bored because these artistic kids can fend for themselves. They think differently than most and somehow I am overjoyed because I have been trying to sub here for 4 years. I feel like i have found my people if that makes any sense. I found the kids who actually want to be here and are going somewhere, and they don’t really need me here. It is beautiful!
I am going through some archives on my computer and looking at photographs i took while I was in Ukraine back in 2005. I have never posted them so i decided to put up one of my new favorites. Meet Igor.
Okay….bell.
New kids. New music. The money has never been so hard to make…
